METHOD: Warm Milk. Dissolve yeast in a little of the warm milk in a bowl until dissolved. In a large bowl, add salt sugar and shortning and the rest of the milk . Keep luke warm and add the yeast mixture. Add fruit and any other ingredients. add flour gradually and mix to a pliable dough. Knead lightly and throughly for 10 minutes. Put to rise in a warm place near stove with a covered cloth or ceran wrap for one hour or until the dough is doubled in bulk.
Punch down dough and cover to raise again. Shape into loaves or buns in a greased pan and leave for 10 mins to rise again. Brush with a little sugar and water mixture and sprinkle with granulated sugar. If desired you can add some more cherries on top. Bake in a 325% oven until light brown.
